House of Straw

The cultural environment, characterized by traditional material choices, has shaped the character of the house. A substantial thatched roof with a prominent chimney allows the house to blend in with the existing structures. The understated side building facing the sea rests under an almost invisible flat roof. The façade, resembling a Roman sculpture, consists of stone and lime. The interplay between the larger main building and the smaller side building defines the original concept. The encounter between these volumes is linked and becomes a part of the diverse tapestry that the village's architecture is composed of. The sea and stone walls symbolize the origins of the place, while the volumes sculpt the plot, and the landscape ties everything together based on a concept of space and human interaction.
